Entry model
– ICT 2022 Entry Model (Gold XAUUSD)
The ICT 2022 Model is a structured entry model that combines Liquidity + Market Structure + FVG. The purpose of this model is to help traders wait for confirmation before entering a trade.

Step 1 – Higher Timeframe Bias
First, analyze:
- Monthly
- Weekly
- Daily
Example
Monthly = Buy ✅
Weekly = Buy ✅
Daily = Buy ✅
➡️ Focus primarily on Buy setups.
Step 2 – Liquidity Sweep
The market may first take liquidity before making the intended move.
Example
Asian Low = 3370
London Open:
Price = 3367
Stops below the Asian Low are triggered.
➡️ Sell-Side Liquidity Sweep
Step 3 – Market Structure Shift (MSS)
After the Liquidity Sweep, look for a change in market structure.
Ask:
Did the market break the most recent Lower High?
If yes:
➡️ Bullish MSS
This provides confirmation that bullish momentum may be developing.
Step 4 – Fair Value Gap (FVG)
After a strong bullish move, a Fair Value Gap (FVG) may form.
Price may later retrace into that FVG.
This area can be used to look for a potential entry.
Step 5 – Entry
Example
FVG = 3380–3383
Price retraces into the FVG.
A bullish candle forms.
➡️ Buy Entry = 3382
Step 6 – Stop Loss
The Stop Loss can be placed below the Liquidity Sweep Low, depending on the setup and market structure.
Example
Sweep Low = 3367
SL = 3365
Step 7 – Take Profit
Potential targets include:
- Previous Day High (PDH)
- Buy-Side Liquidity
- Previous Week High
Example
Entry = 3382
SL = 3365 → Risk = 17 points
TP = 3420 → Reward = 38 points
Risk:Reward ≈ 1:2.2

Professional Checklist
✅ Monthly Bias ✅ Weekly Bias ✅ Daily Bias ✅ Liquidity Sweep ✅ MSS ✅ FVG ✅ Entry ✅ Stop Loss ✅ Take Profit ✅ Risk Management
Common Mistakes
❌ Entering before the Liquidity Sweep.
❌ Not waiting for an MSS.
❌ Taking a trade without a valid FVG or other defined entry condition.
❌ Trading against the higher-timeframe bias without a clear reason.
❌ Ignoring risk management.
⭐ Pro Tips
- The ICT 2022 Model can be more compelling when Higher-Timeframe Bias + Liquidity Sweep + MSS + FVG all align in the same direction.
- Treat the model as a framework, not a guarantee. Not every sweep followed by an MSS and FVG will produce a winning trade.
- If major news such as NFP or FOMC is approaching, volatility can disrupt or invalidate a setup. Always check the economic calendar and manage risk accordingly.
